Opener's Rebid
Pass or bid on?
- You can pass after your partner suported your opening, or bid NT ('non forcing')
- You can pass if you have nothing extra to tell, and game (25+ points combined) is out of the option
- You cannot pass if you partner has bid a new suit (keep the conversation open)
What to rebid?
- Support your partner's major suit if you have 4 or more cards in their suit
- Bid your second suit if you have it (at least 4, and lower ranking than your opening)
- Rebid your opening suit if you have a six-card
- Rebid NT with an NT-shape (jump to show 18-19 balanced)
Strength
- Rebid on as low as possible with minimal opening strength (12-14 points)
- Rebid with a jump is you have a lot extra strength
Remarks
- If your right-hand opponent has interfered in the bidding, then you do not HAVE to bid. Pass with minimal values.
