Weak two openings
Weak two openings are 2♦/♥/♠. They promise 6-10 points and a good six card suit.
- 2♦: 6-10 points and a six card suit
- 2♥: 6-10 points and a six card suit
- 2♠: 6-10 points and a six card suit
Remark: IT is important to review your hand before bidding. For a weak two it is important that your points are in your long suit.
Responding to a weak two opening
- Your partner shows a weak hand. So most often passing is the best option
- Support your partner with a good fit (3+ cards).
- Bid game if you think you can make it
- Bid 2NT if you're not sure yet if game is possible. To bid 2NT you usually need 16+ points. It forces partner to describe their hand further:
- Rebid your six card suit with a minimum (6-9 points)
- Bid a short (0 or 1 card suit) with a good hand 8-10 points
- Bid 3NT with a maximum 8/10 points and no short suits
